Community members interested in running for the Ferndale School Board this year are invited to attend an informational workshop hosted by the Board on April 22, 2025 at 5:00 at the Ferndale School District office located at 6041 Vista Drive Ferndale, WA 98248. There are two positions that are up for election this year.

A school board candidate must be a registered voter and reside in the director district of the position for which they are filling. View map. Board members serve a term of four years.
Duties and Responsibilities
The primary responsibility of a school director is to work collaboratively as a school board to ensure that all decisions put students first. This means:
- Focusing on improving learning outcomes
- Helping students achieve their full potential
- Making sure that every student, no matter where they come from, has an equal chance to succeed
The role of a school director involves working as a school board team to oversee the big picture of the school district. School directors are not involved in daily operations but help guide the district through these key responsibilities:
- Strategic vision for the district
- Policy development
- Financial oversight
- Hiring and evaluating the superintendent
- Community engagement
- Collaboration with the Superintendent and positive, adaptive leadership with staff
First day to file by mail if unable to file online is April 21. Online candidate filing opens at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, May 5 and closes at Friday, May 9 at 5:00 p.m.
The Primary Election is Tuesday, Aug. 5 and the General Election is Tuesday, Nov. 4.
