Kindergarten & Transitional Kindergarten

To be eligible for kindergarten for the 2024-25 school year, a child must be five years of age on or before September 1, 2024. 

Registering Your Child for Kindergarten

To register your child for school, please complete our online registration form:

*Online registration is not available for incoming preschool students. 

Registration Requirements:

  • Your child’s birth certificate 
  • Proof of residency (your address), acceptable proof includes government issued documents, lease or rental agreement, utility bills
  • Immunization records

Transitional Kindergarten (formerly Jump Start)

Ferndale Schools Transitional Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 is fully enrolled. Information about the 2025-2026 school year will be available in Spring 2025.

Eligibility for Transitional Kindergarten:

  • The child must be 4 years of age prior to August 31, 2024 and not yet 5 years old;
  • The child is not currently enrolled in an early learning program, such as: licensed childcare, preschool, co-op preschool, ECEAP, Head Start, etc. (full or part-time);
  • The child resides within the attendance boundaries of the Ferndale School District.
  • The child demonstrates learning and/or social-emotional needs through a screening process;
  • Priority will be given to children in most need who have had little or no access to an early learning experience.

Program Details:

  • Located at each of our five elementary schools
  • Schedule: Follows the school district calendar
  • Bus transportation can be provided for those who meet district boundary guidelines
