Student School Board Member Kwabena Ledbetter

Ferndale High School junior Kwabena Ledbetter is one of two student members of the Ferndale School Board. He was appointed to the position in June 2022.

Ledbetter said one of his main goals of serving on the Board is to emphasize the importance of strong communication between the Board and Ferndale’s students and staff. He also enjoys Ferndale schools’ strong support of its extracurricular programs.

Ledbetter runs for the Golden Eagles’ cross-country and track teams, racing the 200 and 400 meter events for the latter sport. He also plays the French horn for FHS’ band, is a member of student leadership, and his favorite subjects are chemistry and math.

After high school, Ledbetter hopes to study meteorology. Weather has been a field of interest for him since he was a small child.

Letbetter grew up in the Maryland suburbs of Washington, D.C. and moved to Ferndale in 2019. He enjoys playing flight simulator on his PC in his spare time, and his favorite food is spaghetti with meatballs.
