Student School Board Member Gabrielle Lenssen

Ferndale High School junior Gabrielle Lenssen is one of two student members of the Ferndale School Board. She was appointed to the position in June 2023.

One of Lenssen’s main goals for her tenure on the board is to increase a sense of belonging and build strong interpersonal connections among her fellow students. Lenssen also hopes to create a more welcoming environment at FHS by making community-building activities more inclusive for all students, not just those who typically participate.

Lenssen has participated in the City of Ferndale's Youth Civics Coalition and currently serves as FHS' junior class president. She is also a member of the Golden Eagles' varsity volleyball team.

After high school, Lenssen plans to teach either English or history at the middle or high school level. She is also considering possibly running for public office some time in the future.

Lenssen has lived in Ferndale for much of her life. She enjoys reading in her spare time, and her favorite food is beef pho.
