[Ferndale, Wash.] Out of an abundance of caution, the Ferndale School District will run classes on a two-hour delay again on Tuesday, January 14, 2020.
Given the frigid temperatures, the District believes students will be able to travel to school more safely in daylight. In addition, the delay will give bus drivers the time they need to prepare busses and give our custodial and maintenance crews time to de-ice walkways and warm-up buildings.
Ferndale School District Superintendent Dr. Linda Quinn says, “Our parents have told us in the past that early notice is better as they plan for changes to the school schedule. We hope this early notice will help mitigate any inconvenience the schedule change causes for our families.”
Busses are running on snow routes. View snow routes.
If conditions change, the District will provide an update by 7:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 14.
Delayed start times are two hours later than regular start times. Those times are as follows:
- Elementary Schools (with the exception of Beach) – 11:25 am
- Beach Elementary School – 10:10 am
- Horizon Middle School – 10:02 am
- Vista Middle School – 9:59 am
- Ferndale Family Connections – 11:00 am
- Ferndale High School – 9:40 am
All before school district activities are canceled. Evening activities will proceed as planned unless cancelled by organizers. PLEASE NOTE: organizers have announced that the Internet Safety Event at Vista Middle School will be postponed.
Please note for Tuesday, January 14, 2020 that both morning and afternoon sessions of preschool are canceled. There is no developmental preschool (AM or PM) on early release, half days, or delayed start days.
