The Ferndale School District is opening up a conversation about healthy relationships and consent. Two assembly times are planned for Tuesday, June 11: 9:12-9:42 AM and 10:32-11:02 AM.
Each assembly will cover the same topics including:
- Law and legal definitions
- Ferndale School District protocol
- Available resources
Ferndale School District Superintendent Linda Quinn says, “This is a bigger topic than can be addressed in one assembly. However, we feel a sense of urgency to begin the conversation before students leave for the summer. The safety of our student’s is our top priority, and we promise we will be continuing this work in the fall.”
Representatives from the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Services (DVSAS) and the Bellingham Whatcom County Commission Against Domestic Violence will attend and participate as panelists, along with law enforcement and school district personnel.
Administrators at Ferndale High School have arranged counselor support for students who may need additional resources. Email notification of the assembly has been sent to parents in advance.
