The Ferndale School District is pleased to announce that Ravinder (Rav) Dhillon has been selected as the new Assistant Principal at Ferndale High School. Dhillon, who currently serves as an Assistant Principal Intern at Bellingham High School, is set to begin at Ferndale High School on July 1.
Dhillon describes herself as a caring and dedicated educational leader. “My goal is to work with teachers, administrators, parents and other stakeholders to connect students to the resources they need for their future as citizens in the global economy.” Dhillon is a proud member of the Ferndale community and a Western Washington University alumni where she graduated with a M.Ed. in Educational Administration and a Certificate of Educational Administration. Dhillon also has a B.S. in Chemistry from Trinity Western University and a B.Ed. in Secondary Sciences from the University of British Columbia in Canada where she began her career as a Chemistry teacher.
Community engagement is an area of special focus for Dhillon who says, “I recently had the opportunity to plan and host the first annual South Asian Desi Party family event in the Bellingham School District. The event helped to strengthen relationships with our families and I am really proud I played a part in making the event a reality.”
Ferndale School District Superintendent Dr. Linda Quinn welcomes Ms. Dhillon to the Ferndale School District and says, “We had a very strong candidate pool for this position. Our process was rigorous and included staff and students. Rav really stood out during our process and we feel fortunate that she has agreed to join our team at FHS. I know she will be a great fit.”
Ferndale High School staff and students played an important part in the interview process. Ferndale High School Principal Jeremy Vincent explains why that is so important, “Our FHS Principal Team sets the pace at our school and helps to shape our culture. We wanted our candidates to meet our staff and students at the beginning of this process so that they could get a sense of who we are as a school and where we are going in the future. We worked together to find the right person for this role and that person is Rav.”
Dhillon lives in Ferndale with her FHS Alumni husband Gurpreet Dhillon and three sons Kaveer, Sameer, and Ranbir. The Dhillon Family enjoys travelling, outdoor activities and family movie nights.
The Ferndale School District opened the assistant principal position to support current FHS administrators as work begins to build a new Ferndale High School. School bond process updates are sent weekly and posted at https://www.weareferndale.org/updates/.
The Ferndale School District asks the Ferndale community to join in sending a warm welcome to Rav Dhillon!
