Time is a funny thing. It keeps moving us along. As this Graduating Class prepares for Commencement, the District is also making plans to increase our investment in Early Learning for our very youngest students. Research tells us that increasing our investment in Early Education will make a difference in future school years, and we believe that is an investment worth making. In summary, that means we are hiring the equivalent of five additional certificated teachers to support students in grades K-3 grade. The new teachers will be assigned to Eagleridge, Cascadia, Skyline, Central, and Custer. Depending on needs in each building, the positions may be used to add a classroom or to support students in the areas of literacy, math, or social and emotional learning.
Our Community Transitions programs are growing. The programs, designed for young adults aged 18-21 with a documented disability and who have an IEP for services, are a bridge between high school and adult living.
The Ferndale School District and Sodexo Food Service have been partners for over three-decades to bring healthful meals to Ferndale students. Starting in the 2019-2020 School Year, there are changes coming.
Ferndale School District Summer programs will operate at Horizon Middle School and Eagleridge Elementary this year.
