Ferndale Kiwanis has recognized Ferndale High School Senior Parker Love with the Student of the Month award for February. Besides maintaining a 3.959 grade point average, Parker has a passion for the arts—participating in school plays, the school choir and summer theatre productions.

Parker has been on the honor roll all four years of his high school career and is an Advanced Placement (AP) scholar with honors. He placed third in the school-wide American Math Competition and he is a member of the Honor Society.

Parker is very involved in the arts. He is a member of the school's Swing Choir which took third place at the San Juan Music Educators Association's Large Group Ensemble competition. He's also been recognized as Ferndale High's Student of the Month for orchestra. During the summer theater program, he serves as a mentor to students.

Also, Parker gives back to his community. He volunteers with American Legion Post 7 Toys for Tots program, helps place flags on holidays, assists at the hot dog stand fundraiser, and other activities that all benefit our veterans.

An issue that Parker sees in our community is the lack of community integration. "I would solve this problem by volunteering more and participating in events that involve the entire community in order to building a sense of community," said Parker.

Following graduation from high school, Parker plans to attend a four-year university to major in mathematics and music.

Congratulations, Parker! #FerndalePride

Thank you to Ferndale Kiwanis for supporting our students!
