Ferndale High School senior Alex Brulotte is Kiwanis Student of the Month for April. Alex is being honored for academic performance, participation in school activities, and service to our community.

At Ferndale High School, Alex has been involved in Volleyball, Cross Country, QSA (Queer-Straight Alliance), Leadership, Mental Health Club and Wrestling. Even with this very busy schedule, Alex has managed to maintain a 3.7 GPA. Outside of school and extracurricular activities, they also have a job working for Grant’s Burgers.

Alex has received several awards for wrestling, which include MVP and Outstanding Wrestler. They are especially proud of being captain of the wrestling team and placing twice in the State Wrestling Meet.

Alex is also very proud of the Mental Health Assembly and MESS (Mental Emergencies Support Services Club) Community Nights they helped plan and put on for Ferndale High School students and members of the Ferndale community.

After graduation, Alex plans to go to Colorado Mesa University to earn a master’s degree in accounting and criminal justice. A career in law enforcement is their ultimate goal, along with coaching wrestling after college.

Alex credits Caleb Schlack, Ferndale High School wrestling coach, as a major positive influence in their life. They share that Coach Schlack has provided support in so many ways, including pushing Alex to wrestle, which helped them discover how much they love wrestling. Alex also credits Caleb for helping figure out which college to attend. Finally, they say, Coach Schlack has been there whenever they needed someone to talk with.

Congratulations, Alex Brulotte. We are proud of you and your accomplishments.

Our many thanks to Ferndale Kiwanis for its continued support of our students. In addition to annual scholarships, each month Kiwanis recognizes one of our high schoolers as its Student of the Month.
