Marc Rodriguez is Kiwanis Student of the Month

Marc Rodriguez is the Ferndale Kiwanis Club Student of the Month for October.

Marc has been a member of the student group M.E.Ch.A since his freshman year. He played football during his freshman and sophomore years and he plays music for football games. He led a group of students doing morning announcements and has been the M.C. in school assemblies. In all of this, Marc has received praise and respect for his leadership and collegiality.

Marc works at Mayberry Packing during his summers where his employers, fellow workers, and customers have said that he is one of the best workers.

Last year, Marc and his fellow club members collected food and donations for the annual food drive. His group collected 1,836 pounds of donated food, the most of any group within his school.

Marc plans on attending Whatcom Community College and wants to pursue a career where he can help kids within schools toward success.

When asked what he felt was the most important issue facing his school, he replied that he believes it’s a culture within the school that fosters students’ adopting distinct group identities and he would like to see people working together.

Marc told the Kiwanis Club members that the most influential people in life have been his parents and a school staff member- Alvaro Vicente. His parents and Mr. Vicente have all encouraged him to be the best he can be and to use his work ethic and love of people to make him a successful student living up to his potential.

Congratulations, Marc! We are proud of you and your accomplishments. #FerndalePride
