Update from Ferndale School District & Ferndale Police Department
Ferndale Families,
The suspect involved in bringing a weapon on to the Ferndale High School property was apprehended early this morning after he turned himself over to law enforcement. The weapon, which was also seized, was confirmed to be a BB gun. The suspect, who’s name is not being released, was turned over to his legal guardian.
The Ferndale Police Department is continuing to investigate this incident and expects to file criminal charges with the Whatcom County Prosecutor’s Office. In addition, Ferndale School District will be taking disciplinary action.
The Ferndale Police Department and the Ferndale School District will continue to coordinate to ensure the safety of all students.
