November is Native American Heritage Month, and Ferndale School District is proud of the rich culture, traditions, and histories that our Native American students, staff, and neighbors contribute to our community.
Last month, the Ferndale School Board adopted a new Land Acknowledgment, which was created after a year of collaboration with the Lummi Nation. The acknowledgement comes with a video produced by Children of the Setting Sun, which will be used to teach our students about the importance and significance of the Land Acknowledgment. The purpose of this effort is to honor and express gratitude for the Lummi people, acknowledge the unique challenges local Native people have faced historically and now, and to educate our students and community about the history of this land.
Linked here is the Land Acknowledgment video – we encourage you to take the time and watch it.”
