Dear Ferndale Families,
In an effort to continue our strong communication relationship with families, I want to inform you of a safety situation that occurred on our school campus.
At the end of the school day, administration was notified of a possible weapon on campus and immediately responded. Ferndale Police Department was notified and confiscated the bag and reported weapon.
Based on the investigation conducted by the Ferndale Police Department, the recovered weapon was an air gun and the student had no intent to cause harm. However, we cannot stress how seriously we take matters that involve a weapon. Appropriate disciplinary action is being taken and the police are continuing their investigation.
I would like to commend the student who came forward and reported the incident to one of our adults. Student safety depends on students who see or hear something concerning, saying something to an adult. I’d like to encourage you to speak with your child about the importance of speaking up and about the serious consequences for students who bring weapons to campus or make threats, serious or not.
Working together while keeping a positive open relationship, we can maintain an environment where students are free to focus on learning. Thank you for being a great partner in your child’s education. We will continue our promise of providing a safe and secure learning environment for your child.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know. Thank you for taking the time to read this message and have a wonderful evening.
Ravinder Dhillon, Principal
