Ferndale families: By now, you might have heard the news from Olympia. Governor Inslee said that K-12 teachers, students and staff must continue to wear face masks in schools, regardless of vaccination status, to protect each other from COVID-19 -- especially since so many of our students have not yet been vaccinated.
With the help of the Whatcom County Health Department, we are working on interpreting this health guidance. Rest assured, we will continue to follow the state’s rules, like we have since the beginning of this pandemic. We’ll give you more information on what this fall will look like, and the reasoning behind some of these decisions, during our Facebook Live discussion on August 12 at 4 p.m. As the more detailed school procedures are developed, we will post them on the district webpage.
Here's a link to the updated state school health guidance: https://www.doh.wa.gov/.../820-105-K12Schools2021-2022.pdf which was updated on July 28, 2021. As always, these guidelines will be updated as we learn more and the situation develops.
